How To Play Blackjack

Blackjack, the most popular casino game, offers the best chance at winning. Players with varying levels of expertise in card counting can gain an edge over the house, and even casual players can play close to even.

The casinos like to call blackjack a game of chance, but it is as much a game of skill as anything. However, becoming an effective card counter is difficult and time consuming. And unless you’re planning to make blackjack your occupation, it’s unnecessary.

Blackjack can be played successfully by using variations on a “basic strategy”. Over the following pages, we’re going to teach you this basic strategy, as well as some of the more colourful rules of the game, which allow you to gamble as close to even as possible.

It doesn’t matter how many players are seated at the table. Blackjack is essentially a one-on-one showdown between yourself and the dealer. The players are not trying to beat each other, only the dealer. Each player is playing a separate game. The only thing the players have in common is that their cards from the same deck and are distributed by the same dealer.
